The UN World Food Program(WFP) has approved a project to supply food aid to nearly 2 million North Koreans.
Radio Free Asia(RFA) reported Wednesday that the WFP endorsed a new humanitarian project to feed one-point-seven million North Korean residents during a board of directors' meeting in Rome last week.
According to RFA, the project will carry on for two and a half years beginning July and is aimed at providing nutrition for children and pregnant women in the North and strengthening the capacities of the regional communities of the country to deal with natural disasters.
The project will reportedly benefit 400-thousand pregnant women, 860-thousand malnourished children and 440-thousand residents in disaster-hit areas.
WFP presumed it will need a 125-point-nine million dollars-worth budget for providing the North with 150-thousand tons of food for 30 months.
