Kim Moon-soo and Jang Dong-hyeok, two candidates in the main opposition People Power Party(PPP)'s leadership race, will face each other in a televised debate at 5:40 p.m. on Saturday.

Both candidates, who have expressed opposition to former President Yoon Suk Yeol's impeachment over his martial law action, are expected to clash over issues such as the failed candidacy merger with former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo in the June presidential race and their stances toward a party faction calling for a break with Yoon.

During the PPP’s convention earlier this week, none of the four contenders, which also included Ahn Cheol-soo and Cho Kyoung-tae, secured a majority vote, forcing a runoff between Kim and Jang, who received the highest tallies.

The PPP is set to announce its new leader on Tuesday following two days of voting by party members and a public opinion survey starting Sunday.
