President Lee Jae Myung has met with top business leaders who will accompany him to the U.S. to strengthen coordination ahead of next week’s summit with U.S. President Donald Trump.

Executives from Samsung, LG, SK, Hanjin and Celltrion attended the roundtable on Tuesday, where Lee thanked them for supporting earlier negotiations that secured a 15 percent reciprocal tariff rate in return for an investment pledge worth 350 billion U.S. dollars. 

He is believed to have urged the companies to continue backing the government as final details of the talks are settled.

The meeting was attended by businesses in key sectors such as semiconductors, autos, defense, biotechnology, shipbuilding and energy.

Lee stressed the need for government and industry to work as “one team” in navigating upcoming trade challenges with the United States.
