The special counsel team investigating the December 3 martial law case is questioning former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo.

Han appeared for questioning as a suspect at special counsel Cho Eun-suk’s office in southern Seoul around 9:25 a.m.

Han is suspected of abetting former President Yoon Suk Yeol in illegally declaring martial law.

Cho’s team believes that Han, who served as Yoon’s chief aide and vice chair of the Cabinet, was involved in decision-making before Yoon declared martial law and while it was in force, making him a key accomplice in an insurrection.

The team alleges that Han served as an accomplice by recommending a Cabinet meeting to legitimize Yoon’s martial law attempt, and by ordering the drafting of a revised version of Yoon’s martial law decree to address legal flaws in the original.
