A survey finds that Taiwanese travelers, who make up the largest share of foreign tourists in the southern port city of Busan, prefer dwaeji gukbap, or pork and rice soup, as their favorite local dish.

The Busan Tourism Organization on Friday released the results of the survey of nearly 15-thousand-800 Taiwanese tourists, who were asked about their preferred Busan foods.

In the multiple-response poll, 67 percent of the respondents chose pork and rice soup, while 37 percent selected eomuk or fish cakes, a traditional Korean food made from ground fish paste.

Seed-filled hotteok or Korean sweet pancakes came in third, with 22-point-four percent of respondents selecting them, and grilled eel was fourth at 19-point-four percent.

From January to May this year, some 249-thousand Taiwanese tourists visited Busan, making them the largest group of international visitors to the city.
