Most of South Korea will experience sweltering conditions on Friday’s Liberation Day, with temperatures likely topping 33 degrees Celsius in many areas.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, rain is expected to linger in parts of the central region until the afternoon, while showers may fall in the southeast, bringing five to 40 millimeters to southern Gyeonggi, the Chungcheong region and the Gyeongsang provinces.

Dense fog reducing visibility below 200 meters may form overnight through Friday morning in inland areas of Jeolla and Gyeongsang.

Morning lows will hover around 26 degrees in Cheongju and Busan, with tropical nights likely in some locations, while daytime highs will reach 32 degrees in Seoul and 34 degrees in Daegu, up two to five degrees from Thursday.

Hot weather will persist nationwide through the weekend, with relatively calm seas seeing waves of zero-point-five to two meters.
