President Lee Jae Myung has welcomed the dismantling of some of North Korea’s propaganda loudspeakers along the border after South Korea removed its own, expressing hope that such reciprocal steps will gradually lead to dialogue between the two Koreas.

At a Cabinet meeting Tuesday, Lee said the devices are “unnecessary and costly” and urged North Korea to continue dismantling them.

He noted that when South Korea halted its propaganda broadcasts in June, the North also stopped, and said such actions could help restart communication.

Lee stressed that inter-Korean ties should shift from causing harm to fostering mutual benefit, pointing to the heavy costs of division and military confrontation.

He called for renewed dialogue and a peaceful, stable Korean Peninsula with improved economic conditions for both sides.
