The presidential office will begin providing simultaneous sign language interpretation during official press briefings.

Starting with the release of a joint statement by President Lee Jae Myung and Vietnamese leader, Tô Lâm, sign language interpretation will be supported during regular briefings, the presidential office announced Monday.

“This measure aims to ensure access to information for people with hearing and language disabilities and strengthen social integration and transparency in state administration,” it said.

The top office added that the Lee administration is the first to hire exclusive sign language interpreters, allowing the hearing and speech impaired to participate in government affairs, and plans to gradually expand the scope of interpretation to major events in the future.
