Consumer Prices Rise 2.1% in July

Consumer prices increased more than two percent in July. 

Statistics Korea said Tuesday that the country’s consumer price index stood at 116-point-52 in July, up two-point-one percent from a year earlier. 

The consumer price increase has remained in the two percent range for two straight months, after falling to one-point-nine percent in May. 

The prices of processed food products jumped four-point-one percent on-year in July.

The prices of agricultural products fell by one-tenth of a percent from a year earlier in July, while those of livestock and fishery products jumped by three-point-five percent and seven-point-three percent, respectively. 

Core inflation, which excludes volatile food and energy prices, rose two-point-three percent in July from a year earlier.
