The special counsel team investigating corruption allegations against former first lady Kim Keon-hee has summoned the former lawmaker suspected of benefiting from her intervention in candidate nominations for a 2022 by-election.

Former People Power Party(PPP) lawmaker Kim Young-sun appeared at special counsel Min Joong-ki’s office in central Seoul around 8:40 a.m. Monday.

Ex-Rep. Kim is at the center of allegations that former President Yoon Suk Yeol and his wife meddled in the PPP’s candidate nominations in 2022.

The former presidential couple is suspected of having received polling data free of charge from power broker Myung Tae-kyun ahead of the March 2022 presidential election, in return for arranging for the former lawmaker to win the PPP’s nomination for a district in the parliamentary by-elections later that year.
