The number of visitors to the National Museum of Korea has more than doubled in July from a year ago, thanks in part to the global popularity of the Netflix animated film, "KPop Demon Hunters."
According to the museum on Friday, it logged 694-thousand-552 visitors from July 1 to 30, compared to 338-thousand-868 during the same period last year.
As of Wednesday, the museum’s total visitor count for 2025 stood at three-point-42 million, up 71-point-five percent from a year earlier. The museum now expects the annual tally to surpass four million to set a new record.
The museum credited the increase not only to the summer vacation season but also to the buzz surrounding "KPop Demon Hunters." The film features characters inspired by traditional Korean folklore and accessories, some of which can be found at the museum.
With the surge in visitors, the museum said it has deployed extra staff to help with parking and is encouraging guests to use public transportation to avoid long wait times.
