Munitions Talks with Italy Open This Wk

News2009-06-01

The government will hold the 16th joint committee meeting on national defense munitions with Italy this week.

The Defense Acquisition Program Administration in Seoul says the meeting will take place in Rome from Tuesday until Friday.

The two sides will sign a memorandum of understanding for cooperation on military supplies and discuss strengthening quality guarantees on 127-millimeter sea-based artillery shells.

In 1985, Italy became the first European nation to sign an agreement with South Korea on defense munitions. Korea currently imports artillery shells from Italy and exports tank parts to Italy.
