‘NK Documents Contain Key Nuke Files’

North Korea is said to have turned over to the United States key records disclosing information about its nuclear weapons programs.

A high-ranking South Korean official says the documents contain details about the operation of a five-megawatt nuclear reactor and a fuel rod fabrication plant at the North's main nuclear complex in Yongbyon.

The U.S. State Department's director of Korean affairs, Sung Kim, will return to Seoul after talks in Pyongyang with North Korean officials, bringing the documents with him.

The United States will verify the documents and then begin the process to remove Pyongyang from its terrorism blacklist.

The South Korean official said the handover of the documents means the North is serious in its nuclear declaration, adding that Pyongyang had refused to disclose them for over a decade.
