Survey: 75% Believe Lee MB Will Do Good Job

A new survey finds that seven out of ten Koreans believe President Lee Myung-bak will do a good job running state affairs.

According to a KBS survey, 75-point-one percent of respondents said they believe Lee will be a good president while 15-point-four percent said the opposite.

On the activities of the presidential transition team, nearly 44 percent gave the team high marks while around 39 percent said it had fared poorly.

On the reorganization of the government, 42-point-three percent said Lee’s decision to keep 15 ministries and two agencies was appropriate. Twenty-three-and-a-half percent said the government should be smaller, while 19 percent said it should be the same size as it was during the Roh Moo-hyun administration.

With regard to the recently concluded probe on financial allegations surrounding Lee, nearly 57 percent said investigators had failed to resolve suspicions over the case. At the same time, 31 percent said the probe had successfully revealed the truth on the matter.

More than 69 percent of respondents picked revitalizing the economy as Lee’s top priority in state affairs followed by political reform, educational reform and national unity.

In the area of economy, more than 33 percent picked price stabilization as the most important task followed by tackling unemployment and the widening wealth gap. Stabilizing real estate prices and revitalizing the real estate market were also named as key economic tasks.
