Japan PM to Accept Nuke Agreement

Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda has favorably considered the six-party agreement announced Wednesday and expressed his intent to approve it.

Responding to a question before the Diet on Thursday, he expressed satisfaction that the agreement clarified North Korea's steps for denuclearization including the disabling of three nuclear facilities by the end of this year.

He voiced hope that concrete action would follow and promised to do his utmost to contribute to a nuclear-free Korean Peninsula and the improvement of Tokyo-Pyongyang ties.

Fukuda also said that Japan will cooperate with the five other participants in the nuclear dialogue, while also demanding that North Korea take action on the Japanese abductees issue.
