Tours to the inner area of North Korea's Mount Geumgang, also known as Naegeumgang, will begin next month.

Hyundai Asan Corporation, which operates tours to the Geumgang mountain resort, said Wednesday that North Korea agreed to allow Naegeumgang tours from May 27th.

Tours to Mount Geumgang have been limited to outer and coastal areas at the resort, also known as Oegeumgang and Haegeumgang. Travelers will now be allowed to visit the mountain region's interior.

Hyundai Asan plans to send travelers to the Naegeumgang area from June first, after launching pilot tours on May 27th and 28th.

The firm explained that the three-day Naegeumgang tour program will include visits to Pyohunsa Temple and various other historic sites.
