Economist Mag Wary of Installment Funds
The Economist magazine has warned the country against overheated investment in installment funds.
In its latest edition, the weekly said the Seoul bourse has maintained its bullish rally thanks to brisk sales of regular savings-type funds, but that a fall could cause a serious crisis like the 2003 bursting of the credit card bubble.
The report said the soaring popularity of fund products has fueled the bourse rally, saying that between March and September this year, Kookmin Bank sold 2.4 trillion won of stock-type funds and Cho Hung Bank 9.3 trillion won worth.
