The biggest shareholder in MBC TV on Monday convened an emergency board meeting on a news program's use of coercive journalism on cloning pioneer Hwang Woo-suk.

The Foundation for Broadast Culture said MBC President Choi Moon-soon is expected to give a briefing on the unethical conduct of the TV news magazine "Producer Notebook."

The program's producers have admitted to using coercive tactics on Hwang's research team in raising suspicion over the validity of his work.

The meeting is also expected to deal with public calls for Choi's resignation over the scandal.

Producers at MBC's cultural program department also decided in an urgent meeting to issue a public apology.
