South Korean IT firm SJ-Tech held a ceremony on Tuesday marking the completion of its plant in North Korea's Gaesong Industrial Complex and officially kicked off its production activities in the North.

The manufacturer of semiconductor carriers is the second South Korean firm to begin plant operations in Gaesong, following kitchenware-producer Livingart who had begun selling its made-in-Gaesong products to South Korean consumers.

Delivering congratulatory remarks at the ceremony, Gyeonggi province Governor Son Hak-gyu said the northern region of his province will be actively developed to cope with full-fleged operation of the Gaesong industrial park.
