2.0 Magnitude Earthquake Occurs near Jeju Island

A magnitude two earthquake occurred in waters off the southern island of Jeju on Thursday morning.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, the earthquake was reported at 8:35 a.m. in waters about 81 kilometers west of Jeju City, with the depth of the epicenter estimated at 16 kilometers.

The weather agency said that the tremor is not thought to have caused damage.

Including the latest tremor, 17 quakes with a magnitude of two or higher have struck the country since the beginning of the year.
