South Korea's Science and Technology Satellite 3 (STSAT-3) has been transported to Russia ahead of its launch next month.
The Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning and the Korea Aerospace Research Institute said on Tuesday that the science satellite was moved from the Satellite Technology Research Center in Daejeon to Russia's Yasny launch base last Thursday. The base is located some 18-hundred kilometers south of Moscow.
The STSAT-3 was based purely on South Korean technology and is equipped with an infrared observation camera. The satellite will send images taken from an altitude of 600 kilometers for the next two years to help South Korean research in discovering secrets behind the births of planets and stars.
The satellite underwent regular inspection in August and final preparations were concluded last month for the transport to Russia.
In Russia, the satellite will be inspected as part of active preparations for a launch at the end of November. The satellite will be loaded on a Russian Dnepr rocket.
