GPS Device Attached to Wild Boar to Study Behavior

The Korea National Park Service and Seoul National University have launched a project to trace and study behaviors of wild boars. The boars are often seen near Mount Bukhan in Seoul.

The service and a team led by professor Lee Woo-sin said on Tuesday they attached a global positioning service (GPS) device on a wild boar recently captured at the mountain and released it.

The park service said the GPS device will show the routes and habitat of the boar, providing clues to figure out the reason of wild boars’ frequent appearances in the city.

The study results will likely come at the end of this year.
