Omega-3 Fatty Acids Linked to Longer Life

A study finds that people who eat food containing high levels of omega-3 fatty acids live longer than those who don’t.

A research team at Havard University tracked and monitored about 27-hundred Americans of an average age of 58 for 18 years.

The researchers found that people who had the highest levels of omega-3 fatty acids in their blood lived longer than those with the lower levels and faced a 27 percent lower risk of mortality.

Omega-3 fatty acids are better when consumed through daily diets, rather than in the form of supplements.

Studies found that omega-3 fatty acids consumed from oily fish reduced risks for stroke, but omega-3 supplements showed little effect.

It is advised to eat more than three pieces of fatty fish a week and a handful of nuts a day.
