Cherry Blossoms Bloom in Seoul

Cherry blossoms have begun to bloom in Seoul, three days after the annual Han River Yeouido Spring Flower Festival kicked off on Friday.

The Korea Meteorological Administration said on Monday that the first official acknowledgement is made when more than three flowers bloom on a tree at a weather station in Seoul’s Jongno district.

The cherry blossoms first bloomed the same day this year as they did last year in Seoul, and five days later than the average dates recorded in previous years.

The weather agency forecasts the blossoms will be at their peak around Sunday, which is six to seven days after the flowers started to bloom.
