Common complications of diabetes are known to be loss of eyesight and heart diseases. But diabetes is less commonly known for significantly increasing the risk of suffering a bone fracture.

According to a survey conducted by a university hospital, the risk of a person who has diabetic neuropathie suffering from fracture increases by 37 times.

This is because even if a diabetes patient does not have osteoporosis or has normal bone density, diabetes worsens bone quality.

In addition, diabetes patients can easily get bone fractures as they are highly likely to faint and fall down due to dizziness when their blood sugar level suddenly falls.

People who have had diabetes for a long time are recommended to rid their homes of obstacles they could trip over.
