Choi advances to 29th after second place in Mercedes Championships

South Korean golfer Choi Kyoung-ju jumped to 29th in the PGA weekly ranking Monday, just one day after he finished second in the Mercedes Championships in Hawaii Sunday after Ernie Els of South Africa. Choi, whose ranking was 41st a week earlier, became the highest ranking holder among Asian golfers, outperforming Japan's Shigeki Maruyama who was placed 30th. Els moved to second place from third in the previous week, overtaking Phil Mickelson of the United States. Tiger Woods of the United States was still ranked first.
