Russian Space Authorities to Announce Naro Launch Date Later

Russia, which is supporting South Korea’s Naro space rocket launch, was quick to announce the delay of the liftoff.

The Russian Federal Space Agency (RFSA) announced the postponement through a press release on its Web site soon after the launch was halted.

The RFSA explained that the delay was due to a problem detected in the body of the first-stage rocket, adding that it will remove the rocket from the launch pad for additional examination to resolve the problem.

The agency said that the exact date of the launch will be announced later.

Russia’s Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Center, the manufacturer of the first stage of the Naro rocket, also posted a similar press release on its Web site.
