Preparations Under Way for Naro Space Rocket's Launch Friday

Preparations are under way for the launch of South Korea’s first space rocket, the Naro, on Friday afternoon.

The Korea Aerospace Research Institute said it began making final preparations after a final rehearsal of the launch was smoothly carried out on Thursday.

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology will convene a meeting of its management committee that will review weather conditions and announce the official launch time at 1 p.m.

Two hours prior to launch, fuel and oxidants will be injected into the rocket, and 15 minutes before liftoff, an automatic countdown system will begin.

Confirmation will be made early Saturday morning whether the launch was successful or not.
