S. Korea Loses to Iran in Asian Qualifier for 2014 World Cup

South Korea lost to Iran Tuesday in the final Asian qualification round for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

At the match in Tehran, the Iranian team scored the only goal of the match in the 30th minute of the second half to defeat the South Korean national team.

Regardless of the defeat, South Korea retained its top spot in Group A. South Korea and Iran both have seven points but South Korea has scored more goals in total than Iran.

South Korea has never won an away match against Iran during the past 38 years.

South Korea will compete against Qatar on March 26th in another qualifier.
