Mo Tae-bum Snags Silver at Sochi

South Korean speed skater Mo Tae-bum snagged silver on Friday in the men’s 1,000 meter at the world championships in Sochi, Russia.

The 24-year-old speed skater took second place at one minute and nine-point-24 seconds in the race, finishing after Kazakhstan’s Denis Kuzin, who won the gold medal coming in at one minute and nine-point-14 seconds.

Mo’s silver was the best showing by any South Korean skater in the 1,000 meter single distance world championships.

Mo had previously won a silver medal in the men’s 1,000 meter race at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.
