Two veteran players have been left out of the national football team's 23-man roster for the upcoming final Asian qualification round for the 2012 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
Striker Lee Dong-gook and defensive back Lee Jung-soo have been pulled from the lineup for the final qualifier against Iran on October 17th.
In a news conference Wednesday, head coach Choi Kang-hee unveiled the roster that excludes Lee Dong-guk and reinstates forward Park Chu-young and winger Son Heung-min.
For defense, Lee Jung-soo, Park Joo-ho and Ko Yo-han who were less than satisfactory in their performance in the September eleventh Uzbekistan match, have been dropped.
Instead, Kim Young-gwon, Park Won-jae and Shin Kwang-hoon are newly picked.
The roster includes many Europe-based Korean footballers. The overhauled team will gather October eighth and immediately begin training for the match against Iran.
South Korea is currently in the lead for Group A in the Asian qualification round with two wins and a draw.
