The government has set the date for the final launch of the two-stage Naro space rocket for October 26th. The launch marks the nation’s third attempt to place the rocket containing a scientific satellite into space.
The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology held a meeting on Tuesday and announced that the launch date has been tentatively set for October 26th. In the event the launch does not take place on the 26th, the ministry said that it could take place sometime between the 27th and the 31st.
The time of the launch will likely take place between 3:30 p.m. and 7 p.m., but the exact time will be finalized on the day of the launch.
The ministry plans to notify the International Civil Aviation Organization and the International Maritime Organization of the planned launch date and time as well as the general vicinity in which the rocket is expected to fall after the launch.
The first and second stages of the rocket have already arrived at the Naro Space Center in Goheung, South Jeolla Province. The center plans to check the rocket’s system this month and then will start assembling the parts next month.
