S. Korea Ranks 12th with 9 Gold at Paralympics

South Korea finished 12th in the final medal tally at the London Paralympics on Sunday with nine gold medals.

In the men's marathon on the last day of the games, Kim Gyu-dae finished seventh and Hong Seok-man placed 19th. Overall, Korea won nine gold medals, nine silver and nine bronze for a total of 27 medals.

This year, Park Se-gyun won two gold medals in shooting, the women's archery team won its first gold medal ever, and South Korea captured its first gold medal in swimming in 24 years.

China finished first with 95 gold medals and 231 medals in total.

After 12 days of competition, the Paralympians promised to meet again in four years at the venue of the next games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
