The scorching weather has slightly eased although most regions saw the temperatures rise to 35 degrees Celsius.
Afternoon highs on Wednesday were lower than Tuesday’s by one or two degrees Celsius. Highs of 35-and-a-half degrees Celsius were recorded in Yeongwol and Jeonju, 34-point-three degrees Celsius in Seoul, 33-point-nine degrees in Daegu, and 33-point-four degrees in Daejeon.
Wednesday was the first time in a week that the afternoon high in Seoul fell under the 35 degrees Celsius mark.
Accordingly, heat wave warnings have been lowered to heat wave alerts in most regions, except parts of the inland areas of the central region.
The Korea Meteorological Administration said that the scorching temperatures are expected to ease further on Thursday, forecasting afternoon highs in most regions to fall under the 33 degrees Celsius range from Friday.
