S. Korea Falls 0-3 to Brazil in Semis

South Korea was not able to get past Brazil on Tuesday for a crack at the nation's first ever Olympic gold in soccer.

Team Korea under coach Hong Myung-bo lost in the semifinals to the South Americans 3-0 at Old Trafford stadium in Manchester. It was the first time in 64 years for South Korea’s soccer team to compete in an Olympic semifinals match.

Brazilian midfielder Rômulo Borges Monteiro opened scoring in the 38th minute of the first half. Leandro Damião netted the remaining two goals in the 12th and 19th minutes in the second half.

Meanwhile, Mexico beat Japan 3-1 to secure its place in the finals.

South Korea will take on Japan on Saturday for the bronze.
