Insurance for damage from natural disasters such as storms and floods will now also cover losses inflicted by earthquakes.

The National Emergency Management Agency said that at a Cabinet meeting Tuesday, a partial revision was approved to the natural disaster insurance law to extend the scope of coverage for earthquakes and tsunamis.

People will receive benefits for their losses from earthquakes and tsunamis starting next year if they purchase the state-run insurance for natural catastrophes.
