Gov't to Set up Cooperation Center in US Fermilab

The government will set up a technical cooperation center within the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory in the U.S.

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology said on Monday that it will establish the center for joint collaboration on Seoul’s 400 billion won project to build a heavy ion accelerator in the planned science belt in Daejeon by 2017.

The ministry plans to send about ten people to the center every year to foster related experts for the project.

The Fermilab, which is the U.S. Department of Energy’s national laboratory specializing in high-energy particle physics, operates the world’s second largest energy particle accelerator “Tevatron.”
