S.Korea Wins Men's Team Sabre Gold Medal

South Korea won a surprise gold medal in men’s sabre at the 2012 London Olympics on Friday, marking the nation's first gold medal ever for a team competition in fencing.

After beating Romania 45-26 at the ExCel fencing arena, Gu Bon-gil, Kim Jung-hwan, Won Woo-young, and Oh Eun-seok became the first Asians to win gold in the event.

The South Korean athletes couldn’t hide their excitement as they circled the piste after their victory, smiling with the South Korean flag around their shoulders.

Friday’s gold medal in fencing marks South Korea’s 100th gold medal won during all of the Summer and Winter Olympics as well as the country’s ninth at the London Games.
