S. Korean Badminton Players Disqualified for Match Throwing

Four women's badminton double's teams have been thrown out of contention at the London Olympics for match-throwing attempts.

The Badminton World Federation held a news conference in Wembley Arena on Wednesday and rejected objections raised by South Korean and Indonesia teams over their dismissals.

A total of four South Koreans, two Chinese and two Indonesians were kicked out of play.

The federation said the players violated the spirit of the Olympic Games by not trying their best.

Following an unexpected loss by China’s doubles team, the eight players appeared to play poorly intentionally to earn a more favorable position in the next phase of the event.

The four disqualified South Korean players are Jung Kyun-eun, Kim Ha-na, Ha Jung-eun and Kim Min-jung.
