Typhoon Damrey is passing through waters near Jeju Island's southern coastal city Seogwipo at a speed of nearly 50 kilometers per hour.

Due to the storm, heavy rain and strong winds are pounding areas around Jeju Island. A typhoon warning has been issued for the island and waters around it while a typhoon watch has been issued for the sourthern part of the Yellow Sea and the western part of the waters off the south coast.

The typhoon is expected to pass through Jeju’s southern coasts before reaching China’s eastern coasts late Thursday.
