Kim Jang-mi Wins Gold in Women’s 25m Air Pistol

South Korea's Kim Jang-mi won gold on Wednesday in the women's 25-meter air pistol event at the London Olympic Games.

At the Royal Artillery Barracks range in London, the 19-year-old Kim set an Olympic qualification record of 591 points to reach the final where she scored 201-point-four points. Her total score of 792-point-four points brought South Korea its fourth gold of the games.

She is the first female South Korean shooter to win a gold medal at the Olympic Games in 20 years since air rifle shooter Yeo Gab-soon won gold in Barcelona in 1992.

Kim also is the nation’s first female air pistol shooter to become an Olympic champion.

Defending Olympic champion Chen Ying of China won silver with 791-point-four points while Olena Kostevych of Ukraine took the bronze medal with 788-point-six points.
