Fencer Choi Wins Bronze in Men's Individual Foil

Fencer Choi Byung-chul captured the bronze medal in the men's individual foil on Tuesday at the London Olympics.

Choi took his place on the podium after beating Italy’s Andrea Baldini 15-14. He is the first male South Korean to win a medal in the Olympic event in 12 years.

Meanwhile, the International Fencing Federation gave a special medal to fencer Shin A-lam who missed out on the women's individual epee gold medal match after a controversial loss.

In badminton, the men's doubles team of Lee Yong-dae and Jung Jae-sung secured a spot in the quarterfinals after beating Malaysia. The team ranked number one in Group D on three victories.

The South Korean women’s hockey team lost 3-5 to Britain, while swimmer Choi Hye-ra failed to secure a berth for the finals in the women’s 200-meter butterfly event.
