Swimmer Park Wins Silver in Men's 200-meter Freestyle

South Korea's swimming champion Park Tae-hwan took silver in the men’s 200-meter freestyle event at the London Olympics on Monday.

Park and China’s Sun Yang shared the podium in second place with the same time of one minute and 44-point-93 seconds at the Olympic Park Aquatics Centre. France’s Yannick Agnel captured the gold medal with a time of one minute and 43-point-14 seconds.

Park’s time on Monday was zero-point-13 seconds behind the Asian record he posted during the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou.

Monday marked the second time for Park to win the silver in the 200-meter freestyle event after the Beijing Olympics four years ago. Monday’s medal also came after Park won silver in the 400-meter freestyle event last Sunday.

Park is the first South Korean athlete to win two medals in two consecutive events at the Olympics.
