South Korea Takes Gold in Pistol, Silver in Swimming

South Korea’s 33-year-old Jin Jong-oh snagged the country’s first gold medal in the 2012 London Olympic games on Saturday in the men’s ten-meter air pistol event at the Royal Artillery Barracks in Greenwich.

Jin won with a total score of 688-point-two points – a combination of his 588 points accumulated leading up to the finals, and the last 100-point-two points in the medal decision game.

With Saturday’s gold medal, Jin became the first South Korean marksman to receive two gold medals in two consecutive Olympics. Jin won the gold in the 50-meter competition four years ago in Beijing, and seeks to defend his title.
