Sweltering Weather, Frequent Rains Expected in August

South Korea is expected to get hit with a bout of sweltering, steamy weather and frequent torrential rains next month.

The Korea Meteorological Administration said Monday that the first ten days of next month will be hotter than the same period last year as the nation comes under the heavy influence of the North Pacific high pressure system. The KMA says temperatures will return to the usual level as the month drags on.

Many regions of the nation will see torrential rains due to atmospheric instability after the seasonal monsoon front recedes.

The weather service says temperatures are also expected to be higher in September and October compared to past years, prolonging the hot weather through early fall.
