S.Korea Wins 53rd Int'l Mathematical Olympiad

South Korea has won the 53rd International Mathematical Olympiad.

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology said on Monday that all six South Korean participants won gold medals at the Olympiad held in Mar del Plata, Argentina from July fourth.

South Korea took top honors for the first time since it began competing in the event in 1988.

The South Korean team secured a total of 209 points among the 548 participants from 100 countries, a much larger score than either China or the U.S. posted.
