Emergency Mgt. Agency Takes Steps to Tackle Heat Wave

The National Emergency Management Agency has devised measures to fight hot weather after a heat wave warning was issued for Incheon and the northern parts of Gyeonggi Province for the first time this year.

As part of the measures, local governments will operate some 37-hundred air-conditioned resting areas and mobilize some 69-hundred disaster relief workers to help elderly citizens who live alone and disabled people cope with the hot weather.

Fire stations across the nation have secured ice packs and ice vests as part of its rescue arsenal.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Employment and Labor has decided to allow those who work outside to take “heat breaks” between 2 and 5 p.m. when temperatures are at their peak.
