First Images Taken by Arirang-3 Revealed

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and the Korea Aerospace Research Institute unveiled Thursday the first images taken by the Arirang-3 multipurpose observation satellite.

Images of Jeodong Harbor in Ulleung Island and Philadelphia International Airport in the U.S. were taken to study the capability of the Arirang-3 satellite, which was successfully launched from a space center in Japan on May 18th.

The Arirang-3's zero-point-seven-meter resolution camera took images that were significantly clearer than the Arirang-2's one-meter resolution images.

The aerospace institute plans to wrap up inspecting the body and payload of the satellite and begin providing image services from September.
