The torch for the 2012 London Olympics arrived in London on Friday on a special plane.
The torch was transported by British Airways from Greece’s Athens International Airport to Britain’s Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose in Cornwall.
The Olympic torch was lit at the Temple of Hera in Greece on May tenth and transported through Greece for a week before it was handed over to the London Organizing Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games on Thursday.
Princess Anne, London 2012 chairman Lord Sebastian Coe and soccer play David Beckham were also on the plane that transported the torch.
After spending a night at the Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose, the torch will be flown on a helicopter to Southwest London. It will then begin the 70-day torch relay spanning 12-thousand kilometers. Eight-thousand inspirational people have been chosen to carry the torch.
