The Korea Meteorological Agency says it will provide forecasts and alert services regarding weather conditions in space through its official website and e-mails starting on the first day of next month. The weather updates come on the back of recent sunspot explosions.
Forecasts will be provided twice a day, once at 7 a.m. and another at 7 p.m. When a sunspot explosion affects the Earth, a light warning or an alert will be announced according to the degree of the repercussions.
The space weather alert service will provide warnings if airplanes, navigation equipment and energy facilities could be disrupted. The space weather warnings will be categorized as radiation, solar or magnetic storms.
The meteorological agency says that since sunspot activities are based on an 11-year cycle, sunspot explosions that can influence the Earth are expected to occur frequently over the next three years.
